It comes with a heavy heart that Dan and I are writing our final blog post as owners of Pocket Notebooks as we announce the acquisition of the business by a new UK business.
We’ve had nothing but enjoyment and pleasure starting and growing this business over the past 18 months. What started out as a site for Field Notes has quickly established itself as the specialists for all pocket sized notebooks; a site brave enough to introduce new brands to UK and Europe, and one constantly thriving to provide excellent customer service.
With that said, Pocket Notebooks reached an interesting point towards the end of 2016. As you may have read, since last summer, we’ve been so busy launching and establishing our digital agency, We Are Myrias, that during this time the performance of Pocket Notebooks suffered to some extent. Stock availability wasn’t great, our website didn’t get the refresh we planned and our normally fast delivery dates got longer than we liked.
Over the past month, we’ve been engaged with potential suitors for the site, a process that Dan and I were determined to only move forward with and sell in the event we found the right person; somebody that gets stationery, analog and most importantly, the community. The company that’s purchased the business is in fact one of our customers, a monthly subscriber we’ve built a great rapport with over email and Twitter. We’ve all done our due-diligence to make sure it’s the right choice for both parties and last week we met up in Newcastle to conclude the acquisition.
Shortly after this blog post, I know Stuart is keen on getting his own update out, which I’m sure he’ll use to explain his motives for the purchase, along with his visions. From what we’ve heard from Stuart, we’re positive exciting times for Pocket Notebooks lay ahead, and we’re confident Stuart will build upon our strong foundations to take the business to the next level - and no doubt beyond.
Going forward, Dan and I will be showing our support for Pocket Notebooks by signing up to the monthly subscription box, and might even start getting our hands on these limited editions we always seem to sell out of! We’re pleased to say We Are Myrias is going from strength to strength, with some key appointments about to take place in the spring. At the same time, we will continue to build, grow and establish our own brands, such as Coffee Extras, along with some exciting initiatives in the pipeline.
Tony & Dan
P.S. Remember, forget the App, there’s a Pocket Notebook for that…
